Multi-track audio routing in Wirecast Pro lets you assign audio sources to separate tracks and send each track to a different place: a stream, a recording, or a playback device such as a headset. For example, you can send announcers a mix without microphones while the producer hears the full program.
How to assign audio sources to tracks in Wirecast
- Select a shot and open its Audio Properties tab.
- Click Map to open the audio mapping window.
- Check a square to map an audio channel to a track. Any channel can go to any or all tracks, but you will usually group related channels on one track.
- Repeat for each source. Click Apply to All to copy the settings to every instance of that source.
How to send an audio track to a playback device
- Open the audio mixer and click Add new audio output. A new Audio Output box appears to the right of the Final Mix.
- In the Audio Playback menu, select the device, such as an announcer headset.
- In the Audio Track Selection menu, select the track that device should hear.
You can route up to four output channels to audio devices.
How to choose the audio track for a stream or recording
- Select Output > Output Settings.
- Select a destination, then choose a track in the Audio Track Selection menu.
- Click Map to open the Multi-Track Input Mapper. In each Channel row, check the tracks to send to that output channel.
- Close the mapper and click OK.
See the multi-track audio feature page for more uses, and ISO recording for clean source recordings.
Tips
- Each stream uses one track. Recordings can use several.
- Headphone Mute changes what you monitor, not what goes to the stream or recording.
- Apply to All overwrites shot-specific settings and can’t be undone.
- Reset returns a source to factory defaults: channel 1 left, channel 2 right.
- SDI supports 16 audio channels, but Wirecast Pro video out supports two.
